We have started!

We have a discussion in the computer room on every monday EXCEPT on the 3rd monday of the month and then it is in the fireside room and Pat Davis will be there to teach a few things and answer questions.

Our year begins on November 1.

New dues will be the same as last year:

Membership for 1 year               $10.00

Classes (all) for 1 year                $10.00

Spouse addition for 1 year        $  5.00

Spouse Classes for 1 year        $10.00

Our  Statement

Helping each other with computers

The FOS computer Club has been meeting regularly for about 10 years and has been growing steadily during that time.  The current membership is over 250 members.

The FOS computer Club meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  In the winter, meetings are held in the Recreation hall and during the summer months, meetings are held in the Craft Room.  Presentations of timely topics are presented at each meeting. 

Dues of $10 per year and fees for classes help defray costs of buying and maintaining the club's equipment.  Making and selling  address labels and business cards at the monthly swap meet and at other functions during the year are fund raisers for the club as well.   The computer club is completely self sustaining.

A variety of computer related classes are regularly offered to members.  A person must be a member of the club in good standing to participate in the classes.

Membership is open to all who are interested in computers.  Ownership of a computer is not required.  

Digital Camera users are also part of the computer club and meet on the 3rd Friday of each month.  The meetings are held in the Craft Room and are open to persons with or without cameras that would like to learn more about them.

COMPUTER ACCESS

We have high speed internet access in our computer room.  Therer is wifi in the Fireside and Lakeside rooms.  This means that if you have a lap top computer with a wifi card, either built-in or an adapter, you can get your mail from home and surf the net. Wifi will also reach the pool area so if you want to sit around the pool and use your lap top you can.  There will be no extra electical outlets, so be sure your lap top is charged.  Please NO cords to cause anyone to trip and fall.

Our next goal is to get wifi in the activities center.

Welcome back to all our winter members.  We hope we can have another successfull year in computing and learning.  There are some new and interesting classes coming up this year as well as  some of our old ones.   We would appreciate any suggestions for classes you would like as well.  Please send any information o things you would like to see or let us know how we are doing or questions you might have.  we will try to answer them.  Our email address is  foscomputer@aol.com

Desktop Screen Tip

Your Desktop icons can get pretty small with today's high resolution wide screen displays.  Windows XP users have to use the old school method of going into the control panel, display properties to make icons larger, but Windows Vista & Windows 7 users can use a simple shortcut.

Minimize all your programs so that the Desktop is the only thing showing.  Hold the Ctrl button down and slowly scroll the wheel on your mouse to increase or decrease the size of the icons on the fly! Instant Easy To Read Icons!
